Big Cove Walk

The Big Cove unit is the newest acquisition to Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge. Sitting at the northern end of Canaan Valley, the Big Cove supports a diverse collection of rare species and wildlife habitat and holds the headwaters of the Little Blackwater River. Join Refuge Manager Bob Frank and The Nature Conservancy's Mike Powell on a guided walk to discover this special area of the refuge! They will share insights on the importance of Big Cove, plans for public access into the area, and how we utilize partnerships to fulfill our mission. Participants should meet at the Refuge Visitor Center at 1pm. The group will travel from there to the walk location. The walk will take place on old logging roads—expect slightly uneven terrain and some elevation. The length of the hike will be about 3 miles. The event may be canceled or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Stay tuned to our website and Facebook page for updates to this event. Address: 6263 Appalachian Hwy, Davis, WV 26260
