B.A.R.K. Ranger Induction Ceremonies

B.A.R.K. Ranger Induction Ceremonies: Friday, September 22, 2023 - 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m., and 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. for individual inductions.

B.A.R.K. stands for:

  • Bag your pet’s waste

  • Always leash your pet

  • Respect wildlife

  • Know where you can go

By joining the B.A.R.K. Ranger Program, you and your pet will learn proper “petiquette” when visiting Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge. Participants will take a walk with a Park Ranger to learn the principles of being a B.A.R.K. Ranger, after which they'll receive a certificate of completion and bandana. Each session is limited to 10 dogs. Have a pet that does best without unfamiliar dogs? We will hold individual induction ceremonies on a drop in basis from 2-4 p.m.

In the month of September, the B.A.R.K. Ranger program is part of our Migration Celebration, a month-long celebration of the fall migration of birds, butterflies, dragonflies, and more. By joining this program and taking the guided hike, you will “migrate” ⅔ mile. Registration is required. Call 419-898-0014 to register starting on August 26th. This event is free.
