About Gary Peeples

In the summer of 1995, Gary Peeples had his first introduction to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, serving as an intern at Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. In 2001, he returned to the Service, this time as an outreach specialist with the Asheville Field Office, a position he held until 2017, when he became the deputy supervisor of that same office. He has degrees in journalism and forestry from the University of Georgia and prior to coming to the Asheville Field Office spent three years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Guatemala, working on agroforestry and small-scale sustainable farming projects.
