Midwest to Benefit from Nearly $15 Million in Funding To Conserve Bird Habitat
The Migratory Bird Conservation Commission approved nearly $4 million in funding for the protection of more than 7,850 acres of habitat in the Midwest. As part of the grants, project partners are providing $10,959,506 in matching project funds.
Partners in the Midwest received funding via the North American Wetlands Conservation Act for the following projects:
Bottomlands of the Great Rivers (Illinois, Missouri)
Grantee: Ducks Unlimited, Inc.
Funds awarded/match: $1,000,000/$2,085,093
This project will protect, restore, and enhance 2,890 acres of waterfowl and waterbird breeding, migration, and wintering habitat within the largest river corridor in the Midwest, where development has resulted in loss of historic wetlands, erosion, and runoff.
