The program will begin at 10 a.m. At Toppenish National Wildlife Refuge, Toppenish, WA, join the Yakima Valley Audubon Society for bird banding, bird walks, and a hay ride through the Refuge. Bring binoculars and dress for the weather.

At McNary National Wildlife Refuge, Burbank, WA, join the Friends Group for some real tweeters and twitters! The celebration will include bird watching, the migration game, and other bird activities. Activities will be hosted from 9:00 a.m. 12:00 noon at the environmental education center. The center is located at 311 Lake Road in Burbank.

International Migratory Bird Day, held annually on the second Saturday in May, is an invitation to celebrate and support migratory bird conservation. It was created specifically to highlight the migration of nearly 350 species of migratory birds between nesting habitats in North America and non-breeding grounds in South and Central America, Mexico, and the Caribbean. However, the day serves as an opportunity to celebrate all the species of birds whose annual movements enliven our lands, waters, and skies.

All events are free and open to every age. For more information, call the Mid-Columbia River National Wildlife Refuge Complex at 509-546-8300.
