Secretary Norton to Unveil Study of Economic Benefit of National Wildlife Refuges to Local Communities, National Economy

( WASHINGTON ) -- Secretary of the Interior Gale Norton will unveil a study showing the economic benefits of national wildlife refuges to local communities and the national economy at a press conference Thursday, Oct. 6, at the National Press Club.

The study, Banking on Nature 2004: The Economic Benefits to Local Communities of National Wildlife Refuge Visitation, presents both national economic figures as well as individual studies of 93 refuges across the country.

Secretary Norton will be joined by Travel Industry Association of America President Roger Dow.
