MEXICAN WOLF MEETINGS AND PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD

Mexican Wolf Adaptive Management Work Group Meetings and Modification of Public Comment Period (now ending July 31, 005) on Various Documents Related to the Mexican Wolf Reintroduction Project

The Adaptive Management Oversight Committee (AMOC) has modified the public comment period for three subjects to provide an opportunity for the public to review material pertaining to all three subjects at the same time, and to accommodate an additional eight public meetings in Arizona and New Mexico. The three subjects are: Five-Year Review of the Blue Range Mexican Wolf Reintroduction Project; Five Standard Operating Procedures for the Reintroduction Project; and a Proposed One-Year Moratorium on New Releases of Captive Mexican Wolves.

The eight public meetings of the Adaptive Management Work Group will be as follows:

Reserve, New Mexico, on Wednesday June 15, from 6 to 9 pm
Silver City, New Mexico, on Thursday June 16, from 6 to 9 pm
Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, on Friday June 17, from 6 to 9 pm
Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Saturday June 18, from 9 am to Noon
Phoenix, Arizona, on Tuesday June 8, from 6 to 9 pm
Hon-Dah, Arizona, on Wednesday June 9, from Noon to 3 pm
Alpine, Arizona, on Wednesday June 9, from 6 to 9 pm,
Morenci, Arizona, on Thursday June 30, from Noon to 3 pm

Notes: (1) Each public meeting will end earlier than scheduled, if business has been completed.

Meeting Format:

Purpose: The primary purpose is to afford opportunities for the public to learn about and to comment on the Five-Year Review of the Blue Range Mexican Wolf Reintroduction Project, Standard Operating Procedures that guide the Project, and a Proposed One-Year Moratorium on New Releases of Captive Wolves. AMOC members will consider the oral comment at these meetings, but formal public comment must be submitted in writing, as indicated below (i.e. oral testimony at the meetings will not be recorded).
