Deadline for comments now October 31
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service today reopened the comment period for the proposed listing of the Central California population of the California tiger salamander as a threatened species.
Comments and information from interested parties will be accepted until 5 p.m. on October 31, 2003.
California tiger salamanders have been found in Alameda, Amador, Calaveras, Contra Costa, Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, Monterey, Sacramento, San Benito, San Joaquin, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, San Luis Obispo, Solano, Stanislaus, Tulare, Tuolumne and Yolo counties. In Santa Barbara and Sonoma counties, the species is already listed as endangered.
No further workshops or public hearing on the proposed rule are scheduled. But the Service welcomes additional comments.
The Service released the proposed listing on May 16 and opened public comment until July 22. The comment period was later extended to September 22. The Service conducted three informal workshops
