Chiloquin Student Wins the Oregon 2003 Federal Junior Duck Stamp Competition

Richard Mark, 14, a student attending Chiloquin Jr./Sr. High School, won Best of Show in Oregon for the 2003 Federal Junior Duck Stamp Art Contest. His colored pencil drawing of a pair of wood ducks at a nest box will represent Oregon in the 2003 National Federal Junior Duck Stamp Contest to be held in Ocean City, MD on April 26, 2003.

His winning artwork was submitted with the support of his 9th grade teacher, Bonita Fillmore. Ms. Fillmore encouraged Richard to enter the Junior Duck Stamp Competition after seeing his 2nd Place winning design from the 2002 Tule Lake Fair.

The 1st place winner of the National competition will have his or her artwork portrayed on the Junior Duck Stamp and will be awarded a $4,000 cash award and a free trip to Washington, DC in the fall to attend the Federal Duck Stamp Contest. The 2nd place winner receives a $2,000 cash award; and the 3rd place winner receives a $1,000 cash award.

A five-judge panel selected Mark
