U.S. Fish And Wildlife Designates Critical Habitat For Plant in Monterey and San Luis Obispo Counties

After reviewing and evaluating public comments, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service today designated critical habitat for two varieties of purple amole (Chlorogalum purpureum) -- a threatened native California plant -- on 5,910 acres in Monterey and San Luis Obispo counties.

Of the two varieties of amole receiving a critical habitat designation, 1,532 acres have been designated for the purple amole variety (Chlorogalum purpureum var. purpureum) and 4,378 acres for the Camatta Canyon amole variety (Chlorogalum purpureum var. reductum).
