Chinook Tribe Representative Cliff Snider in Sunday BirdFest Event

to Kick Off National Wildlife Refuge Week

Assistant Secretary of the Interior Craig Manson will join Cliff Snider, honorary chief of the Chinook Tribe, in a public hearthlighting at the future site of the Cathlapotle Plankhouse, a replica of the houses that explorers Lewis and Clark visited at the Chinook Indian town of Cathlapotle near present-day Ridgefield, Washington, on March 29, 1806.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, in partnership with the Chinook Tribe and the Vancouver/Clark County Lewis and Clark Bicentennial Committee, seeks to construct a full-scale replica of the a Chinookan- cedar plankhouse on the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge. The replica plankhouse will provide a living history classroom where visitors can learn about the area
