National Wildlife Refuges To Receive Help from Congress in Battle Against Invasive Species

Florida Congressman Clay Shaw and National Park Service Director Fran Mainella visited A.R.M. Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge in Palm Beach County today to announce legislation in the House of Representatives that will provide $2 million to help national wildlife refuges like Loxahatchee in the battle against invasive species invasive species
An invasive species is any plant or animal that has spread or been introduced into a new area where they are, or could, cause harm to the environment, economy, or human, animal, or plant health. Their unwelcome presence can destroy ecosystems and cost millions of dollars.

Brazilian pepper, one of several plants invading the refuge.
