Refuge Manager to Carry Torch for Wildlife

After three decades of working on behalf of fish and wildlife conservation across the West, it seems fitting for Al Trout to alight the courthouse steps at Brigham City, Utah, bearing the Olympic Torch. Trout is one of thousands in the worldwide community who has been honored with the symbolic task of helping move the flame along its course toward the 2002 Games in Salt Lake City.

Trout, 53, was selected as an Olympic Torch Bearer for his notable work and commitment as manager of the nearby Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge. Serving at his post there since 1989, and with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service since 1971, Trout spearheaded the refuge
