The Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge in Alamo is again heading the state-wide call for young waterfowl artists to submit artwork. Park Ranger Mike Carlo, coordinator for the Texas Junior Duck Stamp Program for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, said 9,000 letters and booklets have been mailed to schools throughout the state, advising art and science teachers of the program, the challenge to students in grades kindergarten through 12th grade, and the opportunity for national recognition.
Texas takes part in the Federal Junior Duck Stamp program which is designed to fit in with existing art and science curricula and incorporate scientific and wildlife management principles, crossing ethnic, social, cultural and geographic barriers to teach a greater awareness of our nation
