Secretary of the Interior Gale Norton will speak Monday, March 19th, to a large gathering of professionals working in the science and conservation of natural resources. Her remarks will begin at 10:00 a.m. during the 66th Annual North American Wildlife and Natural Resource Conference which will be held at the Omni Shoreham Hotel.
Secretary Norton will focus on the importance of working with state and local partners and private landowners to replace long-standing disputes in natural resource planning with respect, resolution and results.
"The era of insensitive command-and-control tactics from Washington must give way in the Bush Administration to common sense solutions," Norton said. "I know from experience that the best natural resource planning is done when those at the local level are brought into the process early and can feel invested in the decisions and how they are implemented."
Secretary Nortons remarks are scheduled from 10: a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
