River Crossing at Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge Closed for Repairs
A low-water crossing on Meyers Branch Creek on the Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge will be closed on Thursday, April 22, 1999, in order to repair the structure, which is threatened by erosion and structural deterioration.

The crossing serves refuge needs for access but also serves as a transit route from Pottsboro to Gordonville and points west and north. A recently completed structural evaluation found severe deterioration of the structure, which is further threatened by erosion and water running through its head wall, which is undermining the road surface.

A civil engineer has recommended immediate replacement of the structure, which has become a hazard to school buses and other traffic that crosses the creek. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will begin repairs of the structure as soon as possible, but the work will not be completed for several months.
