About Ian Schlake
Driven by a deep-rooted commitment to public service and land stewardship, Ian specializes in fuels management. In this position he will spearhead efforts to reduce wildfire risk through strategic planning, prescribed burning, mechanical thinning, and other ecological fire practices. He's thankful for the opportunity to contribute to meaningful habitat and ecological restoration/preservation in such a beautiful place.
Before focusing on fuels, Ian served in wildland fire suppression with the BLM across Jackson, MS, southern Arizona, and the Spokane District here in Washington state. His career began in disaster response, where he contributed to recovery efforts on the Gulf Coast, in New York City, the Grand Canyon, Minot ND, Pisco Peru and in Haiti. An AmeriCorps alumnus and Political Science graduate, Ian brings a strong sense of civic duty to every role he takes on.
Outside of work Ian is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys camping, hiking, biking, brewing, reading, woodshop work, and beekeeping. He and his wife are currently passing on their love of camping to their four-year-old daughter. Ever the animal lovers the Schlakes share their home with the aforementioned beehives, seven chickens, and two beloved dogs.
