About Gary Tum'aaq Decossas

Born and raised in Southeast Louisiana, Gary has an undergraduate degree in Coastal and Environmental Sciences with a Master of Science in Applied Statistics from Louisiana State University. He worked for the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries in the Marine Stock Assessment Division for 2.5 years before moving to Alaska in 2016.

He is married to Shanna Aku Perry from Bethel, AK, and has one daughter, Catherine Maataayagaq Venaq Decossas.
