Overview

The oval pigtoe is found in the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint, Ochlockonee, and Suwannee River and Econfina Creek basins. It is a small to medium-sized mussel that can grow to 2.4 inches. The shell is suboviform and compressed with a shiny smooth, yellow to dark brown, and rayless outer layer.
