Clermontia lindseyana of the Campanulaceae (bellflower) family is a terrestrial or epiphytic (not rooted in the soil) branched shrub or tree 2.5 to 6 m (8.2 to 20 ft) tall. The alternate, stalked, toothed leaves are 13 to 24 cm (5 to 9 in) long and 3.8 to 6.5 cm (1.5 to 2.6 in) wide. Two flowers, each with a stalk 1 to 2.5 cm (0.4 to 1 in) long, are positioned at the end of a main flower stalk 2.5 to 4 cm (1 to 1.6 in) long. The calyx (fused sepals) and corolla (fused petals) are similar in size and appearance, and each forms a slightly curved, five-lobed tube 5.5 to 6.5 cm (2.2 to 2.6 in) long and 0.9 to 1.8 cm (0.4 to 0.7 in) wide which is greenish white or purplish on the outside and white or cream-colored on the inside.
