Overview

Unarmed shrubs 2 to 4 m (3.2 to 13 ft) high, many-branched from the base with many basal shoots, stems light brown, erect to arching, up to 6 m (20 ft) long, sometimes leaning on adjacent vegetation, often rooting where in contact with soil, leaf scars subcircular to broadly obovate-depressed; latex white. Leaves clustered near the end of the branches, glabrous on both surfaces, 19 to 30 x 5 to 7 cm (7 to 12 x 2 to 2.8 in). Inflorescences axillary and on leafless nodes, developing along stems up to 30 per stem and 5 to 20-flowered. Flower corollas white, tubular, 28 to 35 by 3 to 4 mm (1.1 to 1.4 x to 0.1 to 0.12 in). Fruits bright orange when ripe, 8 to 10 mm (0.3 to 0.4 in) in diameter, globose to ovoid. Seeds numerous and embedded in translucent pulp.
