Overview
The giant ibis is a waterbird in the family Threskiornithidae. It is native to Cambodia, Lao Peoples Democratic Republic (hereafter, Lao PDR), and
Vietnam. Adults stand approximately 3 ft (1 m) tall, and have dark grey-brown
plumage, with a dark hindcrown and nape. Wing-coverts are pale gray, with
darker tips. They have light red legs, a long downward curving bill, and red
eyes. Juveniles have short, black feathers on their hindcrown and hindneck, a shorter bill, and brown eyes (BLI 2007h).
