Natalus primus belongs to the Order Chiroptera, family Natalidae. It was formerly included in Natalus stramineus, but is “clearly distinct from that species.”329 Leading authors on this taxonomic classification include Morgan (1989), Morgan and Czaplewski (2003), and Simmons (2005).330
