3-200-19: Import of Sport-Hunted Trophies of S.A. Leopard & Namibian S.W. Rhinoceros

This application can be used to either apply for the import of a sport-hunted Southern African leopard or a Namibian southern white rhinoceros. There are several steps that you need to take when applying for this permit. We recommend planning and applying before you finalize your hunting plans to ensure that you can obtain the necessary permits. Import permits are valid for one year from the time of issuance and may be amended or renewed, if necessary.

Who Needs It

Complete this permit application if you are...

Wanting to import a sport-hunted Southern African leopard or a Namibian southern white rhinoceros trophy    

No permit required if you are...

An import permit is not required for trophies of rhinoceroses taken in South Africa or Swaziland. Other countries may require that you apply for a permit.

Southern African Leopard Applications

  • Please be aware that each hunter is limited to the import of two southern African leopards per calendar year.
  • Pertains to the import of leopards from southern African countries (south of, and including, the following countries: Gabon, Congo, Zaire, Uganda and Kenya).
  • If you wish to import a leopard taken in northern or western Africa, please use form 3-200-20.
  • Read additional information about what to consider depending on if you apply before or after your hunt.

Namibian Southern White Rhinoceros Applications 

  • Pertains to the import of southern white rhinoceroces taken in Namibia.
  • An import permit is not required for trophies of rhinoceroses taken in South Africa or Swaziland.
  • If you are looking to import a rhinoceros trophy taken in a country other than Namibia, South Africa, or Swaziland, please use form 3-200-20. 

To Complete This Form You Will Need the Following:

  • A copy of any applicable foreign government permits or licenses that were required to remove this animal from the wild (if you have not hunted yet and do not currently hold any such permits or licenses please indicate so).
  • If you are a broker or taxidermist applying on behalf of a U.S. hunter or foreign national, provide documentation to show you have a Power of Attorney to act on your client's behalf.
