A young girl holds a fish that she caught on the end of her fishing line as her mother takes a photograph of her.

Fishing is offered year-round in refuge waters, except during the muzzleloader deer hunt. Providence ponds, north of the refuge office, are closed one day prior to the beginning of waterfowl season through March 1. See the kiosk at the Providence ponds boat ramp for potential creel limits. Species include largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill and catfish. Trotlines, limb lines, jugs, seines and traps are prohibited.

Please refer to current Refuge regulations and map for additional information. A Current Public Use Permit is required for access if you are participating in consumptive use such as but not limited to, hunting and angling. Click here to purchase or obtain your permit.
