Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge

Watch the sunset on top of Child's Mountain at the northeastern edge of the refuge.

Caravan in your own vehicle to the top of Child’s Mountain to our refuge overlook – a gain in altitude of around 1000 feet (over 300 meters).
All ages and abilities are welcome. Dogs must be leashed.
The road is gravel and dirt for much of the trip, so higher clearance vehicles and carpooling are suggested.
There will be a hot charcoal grill if folks would like to cook their own food at the top.
A vault toilet is located at the site.
Wear closed-toes shoes, bring a flashlight, and something warm to wear when the sun sets. Binoculars and cameras are a great addition.
