Alligator Hunting

Banks Lake National Wildlife Refuge allows alligator hunting on designated areas of the refuge subject to Federal and State regulations, and refuge-specific regulations.

How to Apply

Hunters must apply through the Georgia DNR Alligator Quota Hunt. Banks Lake is located within Alligator Hunt Zone 4. Applications are submitted through the Georgia DNR quota hunt system, and only hunters selected through the state quota drawing are authorized to hunt on the refuge. 2026 Alligator Hunt

  • Dates: August 28–30, 2026
  • Hunt Hours: From legal sunset on Friday, August 28, through legal sunrise on Monday, August 31

All applicable Georgia Department of Natural Resources hunting regulations, licensing requirements, harvest reporting, and methods of take apply while hunting on Banks Lake National Wildlife Refuge.

Hunters are responsible for knowing and complying with all state laws and regulations before participating in the hunt.
