The Refuge portion of Lake Audubon is open to ice fishing but not open-water fishing. Walleye, yellow perch, and northern pike are the popular game fish. Six gravel ice access points are available for accessing the ice on the Refuge. Ice fishing is permitted when ice covers the water. After March 15, ice houses may not be left unattended and must be removed from the Refuge daily. Caution is always advised when walking or driving on ice.
