USFWS Regional Archaeologist Rick Kanaski and Rev. Edgar Timmons, Jr. at the chimney base of the William Timmons house site on Tiger Bluff at Harris Neck National Wildlife Refuge in Georgia. Rev. Timmons's grandfather lived in the house when it was part of the Gullah-Geechee community, uprooted in 1942. The Fish and Wildlife Service is working with community descendants to preserve and interpret some historic community sites.
