Wetland Resources: Kentucky

Wetlands compose less than 2.5 percent of the surface area of Kentucky, but these fragile and finite ecosystems have considerable environmental, socioeconomic, and esthetic value. Axe Lake Swamp is an example of a scenic wetland in the western part of the state.
