Michelle Kane, biologist at the San Luis NWR Complex, and Dr. Jaime Rudd, veterinarian with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s Wildlife Investigations Lab, perform a health check on a riparian brush rabbit before it’s vaccinated. Nearly 270 riparian brush rabbits have been vaccinated against the virus on the refuge as of November 2020.
