Greg Fraser, a biologist for the Mid-Columbia Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office, admires a huge spring Chinook salmon during a surplusing event at Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery. In years when the hatchery gets more fish returning than are needed for broodstock, extra fish are given to tribes as part of the hatchery's tribal trust responsibilities.
