Pee Dee National Wildlife Refuge is one of over 565 national wildlife refuges. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service administers the refuge and is responsible for conserving, protecting, and enhancing the nation’s fish and wildlife populations and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the public.

Situated along the Pee Dee River in North Carolina, Pee Dee National Wildlife Refuge includes 8,500 acres, and has a diverse landscape. The distinct habitats include bottomland hardwood forests, pine forests, mixed pine-hardwood forests, croplands, old fields, wetlands and open waters.
