Big Muddy National Fish and Wildlife Refuge will restrict deer hunting on the Overton Bottoms South Unit of the refuge to archery only for the fall 2023 hunting season. All other seasons will be open in accordance with state and federal codes. The reason for this change is to provide safer conditions for contractors and the public as contractors with heavy equipment begin work on a side channel construction project in the Tadpole Island area.
