Pacific Rim Conservation biologist Dr. Eric VanderWerf removes an federally endangered Newellʻs shearwater from a box to place it in an artificial burrow as part of a 2016 translocation project. The goal of the project is to establish a new colony on Nihokū where they will be protected by a predator exclusion fence.
