Jimmie Garth, Edenton National Fish Hatchery Biologist, in lake sturgeon monitoring boat on the Tennessee River. For over 18 years, there has been a large multi-agency effort to raise and release Lake Sturgeon into the Tennessee River. Each year, a multi-agency team attempts to catch Lake Sturgeon to determine if restoration efforts have been successful. They take measurements of the fish collected, collect a sample for genetic analysis, and determine the age of the fish if possible.
