Engineer Hill on Attu Island in the Aleutians was named in honor of the 50th Engineer Regt. (combat) which repulsed the last desperate counterattack on the island launched by the Japanese in World War II. Here, early on the morning of 29, May 1943 the bloodiest engagement of the battle was fought.
