Dusky gopher frog release in Mississippi on private lands

A landowner and others releasing federally endangered dusky gopher frogs into a pond on private property in Mississippi. Nearly 500 dusky gopher frogs were reared in captivity by the Memphis Zoo and released across multiple ponds on the property. The release, which occurred in June 2026, marks the only population of dusky gopher frogs in Hancock County, and the only release on private working lands.
