The Region 6 Office of Conservation Investment (CI) of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) is seeking public comment on a Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) regarding the proposed construction of a new Service Center for Colorado Park’s and Wildlife (CPW) in Fort Collins, Colorado. Proposed funding for the project administered by the CI Program would constitute a Federal action subject to the provisions of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969, as amended. CPW is proposing to construct a new multipurpose facility on approximately 27 acres at CPW’s Bird Farm SAA located at the southeast corner of the intersection of Interstate 25 (I-25) and Mountain Vista Drive in Fort Collins, Larimer County, Colorado.

The Draft EA prepared by the Service and CPW analyzes the environmental effects of the construction of this 40,935 square foot Service Center and office. In addition to the building construction, the Proposed Action would include access improvements to nearby roads, specifically along a portion of Mountain Vista Drive and the East Frontage Road of I-25. In the Draft EA, the Service concluded that the proposed project would not have impacts to historic properties, wetlands, floodplains. Impacts would be negligible to farmlands. This project would not have any effect on threatened, endangered or proposed listed species.

Public comments will be accepted until November 5, 2025, and can be sent by email to: amanda_horvath@fws.gov or by mail to: Office of Conservation Investment, Attn: Amanda Horvath P.O. Box 25486, Denver Federal Center Denver, CO 80225.
