Coastal sage scrub and oak riparian woodlands abound on the Beaver Hollow parcel, acquired for the San Diego NWR in Jamul, CA. This 120-acre parcel was a strategic acquisition to connect habitats managed by the Refuge and The Nature Conservancy to the west and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife to the east. The lower elevation stream corridor and flanking slopes now permanently protect habitat for listed species and for wildlife movement between McGinty Mountain and Sycuan Peak. These mountains are two important locations within the San Diego Multiple Species Conservation Program, a regional habitat conservation program that will celebrate its 20th anniversary in FY17.
