Atlantic Salmon Parr

An Atlantic salmon parr of the Machias River in eastern Maine. Atlantic salmon of the Gulf of Maine Distinct Population Segment (DPS) were listed in an endangered status under the protection of the Endangered Species Act in December 2000. This yearling parr clearly shows the vertical parr marks of this fresh-water stage of the Atlantic salmon life cycle.
