Facility Activities

Inks Dam National Fish Hatchery provides many exciting visitor opportunities for a up close view of the fish production process from egg collecting to pond harvest. The facility has approximately 200 acres to explore so it’s easy to find an activity that will appeal to you.

The Hatchery Friends group is actively developing an archery training program and shooting course on the hatchery grounds. 

Biking is permitted throughout the facility from 7:00am to 3:30pm. 

Birding is permitted throughout the facility from 7:00am to 3:30pm. The Friends group has a very active birding group. 

The Hatchery has an unimproved kayak launch on the Colorado arm of Lake Lyndon B. Johnson. A new floating dock and launch is coming in Fall 2021. 

Dog walking is permitted through the facility from 7:00am to 3:30pm. 

Walking/Hiking is permitted throughout the facility from 7:00am to 3:30pm. 

Running/Jogging is permitted throughout the facility from 7:00am to 3:30pm. 

Painting/Drawing is permitted throughout the facility from 7:00am to 3:30pm. 

Photography is permitted throughout the facility from 7:00am to 3:30pm. 

Picnicking is permitted throughout the facility from 7:00am to 3:30pm.
