Wapato Lake NWR Welcome Ceremony and Open House

Wapato Lake National Wildlife Refuge (NWR), and partners, will host a Community Welcome Ceremony and Open House. We invite you to join us. The event will include a ceremony, from 10 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. in the Gaston Jr./Sr. High School, followed by an open house from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., highlighting partners refuge staff are working with to provide quality programs and dynamic connections around the region.

Additionally, during the indoor open house time frame, (weather permitting) you can also take a walk on the refuge, below the school, and meet our park rangers, other staff and volunteers on the trail. There will be tables set up on the refuge to share some of the fun activities you can enjoy while visiting Wapato Lake NWR and you will be able to learn about ways you can get involved with this local resource.

This is your opportunity to learn more about this public land and find out how the refuge is working to truly make this a welcoming place for all.

Some of the partners who will be highlighted are:

  • Friends of Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge Complex
  • Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde
  • I'm Hooked, Inc.
