Walk for the Wild is a time to celebrate our commitment to deepening human connections with nature and to protecting the thriving ecosystems on which we depend. Join your local community to raise awareness and support of National Wildlife Refuges and their partners while we strive to get people moving. Walk a distance of 5K in nature in conjunction with National Wildlife Refuge Week, the second week of October. This year's goal is to get 100 people to participate in the Walk for the Wild who have never been to the Refuge. All funds raised will benefit habitat conservation at the Refuge. The Friends of Turnbull invite you to participate by walking, volunteering, or donating to the event.
Participation in the 5k on October 12th, 2024, at 26010 S Smith Road, Cheney, WA, is free and accessible to the public. Start at the Refuge headquarters to get a map and progress card to gather stamps along the Walk. You can plan your start time for your convenience between 9 am and 3 pm on the day of the event. You can find out more about the conservation work and programs of the Refuge or the Friends of Turnbull NWR group by visiting the Nature store inside the Refuge headquarters or online.
