Earth Day at the Refuge

Join us for Earth Day at the Refuge to celebrate our Earth and its endangered species & learn how we can do our part to protect them!

This year, the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge and partners are celebrating Earth Day and 50 years of Endangered Species Act in a big way - and it will be fun for the whole family! Please join us any time from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 22nd, at the Refuge Headquarters in Fremont. The event will be an open house, with time to explore, learn more about our endangered species, join a guided walk or ranger program, participate in some arts & crafts, and much more as we celebrate our Earth!

Extra Considerations and Accommodations:

  • We expect the weather to be warm and sunny, so we encourage everyone to wear sun protection like sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses! We also encourage you to wear comfortable and breathable clothes that are good for exploring the trails and bring layers in case it gets a bit windy. The entire event will take place outside, and we want everyone to feel comfortable and have fun!
  • If you plan on arriving around lunchtime, there will be some picnic tables and benches available for you to enjoy your packed lunches.
  • ADA compliant parking spaces, trails, and restrooms are available on-site.
  • Restrooms will be available on-site in the form of an ADA-compliant portable toilet and hand-washing station.

If you need any additional accommodations or have any questions, please email us at giessell_aguilar@fws.gov, and we will do our best to respond to all requests.

This program is brought to you by the U.S Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), the San Francisco Bay Wildlife Society (SFBWS), and Saved by Nature.
