Celebrate National Wildlife Refuges - Walk on the Wild Side

In celebration of National Wildlife Refuge Week, Humboldt Bay National Wildlife Refuge will open public access on both October 17 & 18, 2026, 8am to 5pm, to the area north of the Shorebird Loop Trail and around the outer levee. Visitors can follow trail markers and walk a 3 or 4 mile loop or choose a shorter out and back route. It should provide some great birding and wildlife habitat viewing opportunities.
