The Golden sedge (Carex lutea) yellow spheres are the female spikes of this endangered plant found only within a portion of eastern North Carolina. Photo by Dale Suiter, USFWS biologist, 2013. This plant is only found in Pender and Onslow Counties, North Carolina.
