Migratory Bird Day at Modoc NWR, October 10
Join us in celebrating Migratory Bird Day by experiencing your National Wildlife Refuge!

Modoc National Wildlife Refuge is hosting a fall world migratory bird day event on October 10, 2026. This event will take place from 10am to 3pm at Modoc NWR, along the auto-tour route. 

Each station will have an informational topic and an activity. Station 1 activity will be setting kids up with our bird sleuth explorers' guidebook and bird buddy program. Station 2 activity will be migratory bird trivia. Station 3 will be making bird masks. Station 1 info topic will be about insects and birds in the food web and what you can do to help them including lighting and lawn care. Station 2 will be about water management on the refuge and how that helps migratory birds as well as using iNaturalist, Merlin, and other community science applications on the refuge for ID. Station 3 will be on hunting and citizen science such as bird banding and the Wing Survey.
