Public Comment Period Open for Livestock Grazing at Ruby Lake NWR

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service seeks public comment on draft environmental assessment and draft compatibility determination for livestock grazing at Ruby Lake National Wildlife Refuge. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announces a 21-day comment period for a draft compatibility determination and draft environmental assessment for livestock grazing on Ruby Lake National Wildlife Refuge. Public comments on the drafts will be accepted from August 14, 2026 to September 4, 2026. Grazing is proposed as a tool to manage vegetation within a targeted area of Refuge meadow. As proposed, grazing is intended to reduce excessive vegetation biomass and improve structural diversity to improve habitat suitability for wildlife. Printed copies of the drafts are available for review in Ruby Valley, NV at the Ruby Lake National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters.
