U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to Draft Environmental Impact Documents with California Department of Fish and Game
The California Department of Fish and Game (CDFG) Fish Hatchery and Stocking Program has been providing recreational fishing opportunities to anglers throughout the State for more than 100 years. The program is responsible for stocking fish, including salmon and trout, in lakes and rivers throughout California. CDFG, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, who provides funding to the program, are preparing a joint Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Impact Statement (EIR/EIS) to evaluate the potential effects the program has on aquatic resources and the environment.

CDFG and FWS will hold two initial public scoping meetings to seek input from all interested parties regarding the scope of the analysis to be considered in the EIR/S, and possible changes to the program in the future.

For more information about the Notice of intent, read the Federal Register notice at: http://www.fws.gov/policy/library/E8-17910.pdf

If you have questions or comments regarding the EIR/S, you can mail your comments to Ms. Jill Wright, Fish and Wildlife Service, 2800 Cottage Way, W-2606, Sacramento, CA 95825. Another option is to email them to: dfghatcheryeir@dfg.ca.gov. Information is also available on theCalifornia Department of Fish and Game website at http://www.dfg.ca.gov/news/pubnotice/
